Reading and writing are two of the most important tools that humans need to be successful in life. Many children find reading to be at least boring and at it's worst, a daily struggle. This doesn't have to be your child. Even children who don't learn to read naturally can become good readers.
I have always loved to read and write. As a child, I would take out as many books as I could from the library, and I never had enough. Children who struggle to read often do not enjoy it. They don't enjoy is because it is difficult for them. Many of the tools on my page are there because they make learning these skills enjoyable for children through movement song and dance. Help your child associate reading with enjoyable experiences like before bed snuggle time.
As an adult I still read every day. Before I go to sleep at night, I use it as a way to shut my mind off from the day. During the day, I use it as a tool to learn how to do new and better things. It is important for kids to associate reading with everyday life and not just school. I encourage you to use reading and writing to help your child do a project that is meaningful to them such as building something they can use or cooking a recipe.
I hope that you can use the tools on this site to give your child the same love of reading that I have. Reading and writing do not have to be a chore.
